The De Bosheuvel sand hill is a place thought up by children for children and other nature lovers.
The hill is a man-made mound of approximately 1,000 cubic meters of sand in Wallebos forest in the village of Beetsterzwaag.
That is a whole lot of sand to have fun on! In the summer the sand hill is a great place to play and picnic. In the winter the slopes are perfect for sledging.
Because the sand is nice and dry, animals love to dig burrows in it.
If you cross Freulesingel road from the large playground to the deer park and walk a bit further you will find the sand hill in the forest.
