This unique place tells the story of Mr. Ambrosius Also van Boelens. He built a forest at the end of the 18th century. Firstly, he builds the forest opposite his house so that he could relax on Sundays.

By the end of the 16th century, more and more Frisian inhabitants had s set up a country retreat to escape the hustle and bustle and hectic. This place also has a special story. The cattle plague outbreak caused many farmers to go bankrupt in the 18th century. The Adel family took advantage of this by buying land from a bankrupt farmer. However, there was a farmer who continued to live in this area. Since 1520, a farmer has lived here by the name: Boelens. Over the years, the village, Olterterp came into the hands of the Boelens family. This was due to rich investments and marriages with other wealthy families. In 1795, the Boelens family became large landowners of the village. At the end of the 18th century, Ambrosius Also van Boelens had a wood planted opposite his house. Later the forest was expanded to the moors and agricultural land. And this forest was given the name: Alperbosch. The large pond is located next to the forest. In this oasis, you will immediately relax and enjoy the beautiful silence and the natural landscape.
