While driving on the Rondweg in Lemmer, you will see a ruggedly overgrown strip of land between the Oude Tramdijk and the bicycle tunnel. This is the Butterfly Garden, which is marked by an information panel. It is a lushly overgrown natural oasis within the built-up area. This is not a neatly landscaped park with mown lawns and shell paths but an adventurous garden where there is plenty to do. For example, more than a hundred different species of native plants grow here, which is something you would not expect in the centre of Lemmer! The layout and management are aimed at making wild native butterflies feel at home.
