Salo Muller (1936), Holocaust survivor and former Ajax physiotherapist, is committed to keeping the memory of the Second World War alive. From the age of six to nine, he was in hiding in various places in Friesland, his last address being in Ureterp. After the war, an aunt came to pick him up, because his parents had not survived the war. "I didn't want to leave Ureterp at all. I could only speak Frisian, didn't remember my real name or when my birthday was. I cried so hard." After a difficult period, he managed to reshape his life and became an important part of Ajax's success in the sixties and seventies. Nowadays, he shares his life story as a guest speaker at schools and at companies and organizations. His story touches, inspires and encourages you to think about the past and the world of today.

At the end of 2024, he published Mijn geschiedenis, a trilogy with two previously published books and a new story.

The lecture that we have organised in the context of 80 years of liberation of Friesland is in Dutch and free to attend. We do ask you to reserve a ticket due to the capacity of the hall.

Studium Generale Leeuwarden (SGL) makes controversial topics accessible to the public. Preferably through 'live' meetings and by giving lectures by renowned scientists and experts. SGL is an initiative of Campus Fryslân - University of Groningen, NHL Stenden and Tresoar.
