Opening of Water Sport Season Leeuwarden

The opening of the water sports season in Leeuwarden will take place on Saturday, May 11. Enjoy free water activities for young and old between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The programme will take place in several places in the city. The opening will be festively celebrated in the city centre of Leeuwarden with a music programme put together by De Neushoorn. Enjoy fun performances all day long, both from the water and on fixed stages. Check the line up below:

Naduah – 12:45 – 13:30 , Groote Wielen

HAITZE – 13:00 – 13:45, De Beurs (tegenover de Greenjoy opstap plaats)

Bean & Ford – 13:00 – 13:45, Hoek Fire Café/Kleine Kerkstraat (voor KEES.)

Raptiel – 14:00 – 14:45, Waagplein

Moonloops – 14:00 – 14:45, op de Greenjoy boot (vetrek vanaf Stadsstrand)

Melissa Pander – 15:00 – 15:45, Hoek Fire Café/Kleine Kerkstraat (voor KEES.)

Seewolf – 16:00 – 16:45, Stadsstrand

Nachtvlinder – 16:00 – 16:45, Waagplein

Restaurant De Groote Wielen hosts a festive children's programme where great activities have been organised. The programme includes, among other things:

• An opening by councilor Abel Reitsma, including tourism & recreation.
• A trip on the Groene Ster with electric sloops or the tour boat 'de Liefde'.
• An active programme consisting of: raft building, canoeing, survival and archery.
• Guided sailing with falcons and optimists.
• Windsurfing and SUP (stand up paddling) clinics.
• And many other activities.

A separate interactive and adventurous programme has been created for the little ones. Throughout the day you can enjoy a snack, a drink and live music on the cosy terrace of De Groote Wielen.

During the event you can also use a water taxi. This sails between De Blitsaerd and Restaurant De Groote Wielen.
