In Grou, there is an unusual command post that dates back to the Cold War. The four command posts stationed at the bunker were: Kringcommandopost Bescherming Bevolking (KCBB-Friesland-c), a local command post for the protection of the population, Provinciale Commandopost Bescherming Bevolking (PCBB-Friesland), a provincial command post for the protection of the population, Gemeentelijk Centrum Civiele Verdediging (GCCV-Leeuwarden) a municipal centre for civil defence, and Provinciaal Centrum Civiele Verdediging (PCCV-Friesland), a provincial centre for civil defence. When the construction plans were drawn up in around 1965, it was decided that a combined command post should be built here. After a long period of preparation, this unique command post in Grou was officially opened for operations in 1967.
