Take a look

Wier is a small village, situated roughly between Harlingen and Dokkum. Until dikes were built in the 16th century, the village was located along the Wadden Sea.

Despite its small size, the village has a unique history. In the 12th century, a stins (stronghouse) was built here by the wealthy Schelte Lauta. It is likely that he also had a chapel built during that time. In the 17th century, the luxurious Lautastate was constructed, which was unfortunately destroyed by fire in 1748. Nothing remains of the state, but fortunately, the church still stands. The former state grounds have been transformed into a park with a night garden and stargazing table where you can take a stroll: the LautatĂșn.

The church has been revitalized as a theater church. You can visit for theater performances, music, cabaret, exhibitions, plays, dance, stories, and poetry.
