The old sea dike on the shore of Lake IJsselmeer runs through spectacular natural scenery. The Dyksfearten are a series of waterways that run parallel to the road. Today they serve mainly as ecological connecting zones. The Buismankoai duck decoy near the village of Piaam is worth seeing. It is hidden in a small woodland in the middle of a meadow. In the past this was where ducks were caught for the table. Now the former duck decoy is used as a bird-ringing site. You can come and see it and visit the De Ral bird-watching hide nearby. Waterfowl such as wild ducks, great crested grebes and common coots nest in the reed beds on the edge of the water. You will also hear reed warblers chirping loudly from the reeds.
