Berlikum - Hallumerhoek | Elfstedenpad Hiking Trail: Section 11
After admiring the iconic Koepelkerk church in Berlikum, you get to discover the Het Bildt region. Here you see the straight lines, straight paths and straight roads of picture book polders. Over the centuries, land was reclaimed from the silted-up salt marshes in the wide mouth of the former Middelzee estuary, which once reached as far as Bolsward. In 1505 the completion of the long Oudebildtdijk dike created a vast area of polder land.
This distinct area of Friesland continues to produce large quantities of top quality potatoes that are used as seed potatoes all over the world. In this region you see both substantial traditional farmhouses and dilapidated workers’ cottages along the dike.

In the village of Sint Annaparochie, a bronze statue of the famous Dutch artist Rembrandt van Rijn and Saskia van Uylenburgh in front of the church recalls the celebration of their marriage here. From here you continue to the villages of Vrouwenparochie and Alde Leie and the hamlet of Hallumerhoek where the trail ends.

Berltsum (Berlikum)
A terp village with urban ambitions. Berltsum is also called the twelfth city of Friesland. Located on the northern eleven cities sailing route. In and around Berltsum, there are plenty of opportunities for cycling and walking.

Sint Annaparochie (Sint Anne)
Sint Annaparochie is het grootste dorp van gemeente Waadhoeke. Naast diverse kleine winkeltjes en horecagelegenheden is de Van Harenskerk, daar waar Rembrandt van Rijn zijn Saskia trouwde, ook zeker het bezoeken waard!

Stel je eens voor... het huwelijk van meesterschilder Rembrandt van Rijn en zijn vrouw Saskia van Uylenburgh werd hier in Sint Annaparochie gesloten! In een voorloper van het huidige achtkantige kerkgebouw gaven ze elkaar op 10 juni 1634 het ja-woord.

Vrouwenparochie (Froubuurt)
Vrouwenparochie een veelzijdig dorp voor de cultuurliefhebber. Wat je zeker niet mag missen is de laatste historische molen op Het Bildt, de Vrouwbuurtstermolen, gelegen op een prachtige locatie aan de 11-steden vaarroute en de Kultuurfabriek Kooi-aap.
Oude Leije (Alde Leie)
Alde Leie is een lyts doarp ( klein dorp ) maar soms groots in het nieuws vanwege De elfstedenroute welke dwars door het dorp loopt. Naast een haven worden hier ook regelmatig streekproducten markten georganiseerd.

- Vanaf knooppunt 38 vertrek je naar het noordwesten, naar knooppunt 60 bij Wier.
- Daar rechtsaf richting 52, 48 en daar linksaf naar 12 (Sint Annaparochie).
- In het dorp rechtsaf en daarna links, rechts, rechts, links om even van de hoofdweg af te zijn.
- Hierna kom je weer langs de N393 te lopen, in de richting van Vrouwenparochie (86).
- Vervolgens naar 91, 93, 90 (Alde Leie), door naar 88 en hier linksaf. Daarna knooppunt 66, 40, 47 en 84 volgen naar Hallumerhoek.
