Living with water
This cycling tour takes you back to the last Ice Age. The marshy peatland made it impossible to build in this area. Peat cutting, flooding, land reclamation… everything that happened here is inextricably linked with water. At that time there was too much water in Friesland. Yet the people who lived in this area chose to battle with all that water. Why? Find out during this cycling tour.
The cycling tour takes you from the town of Wolvega, along the river Linde and through the wonderfully tranquil countryside of southeast Friesland. The landscape is characterised by peat polders, various kinds of water and nature reserves.

Spanga Bell Tower
The substantial wooden bell tower in the Frisian village of Spanga was installed in the graveyard in 1989. But there was a problem. The cost of building the bell tower did not leave enough money to buy a bell. What was to be done?
